Chinese language program coordinator​

• Collaborate with 3 literature professors, 5 full-time language faculty, 3 part-time instructors, and 1 ALLEX fellow on various program initiatives

• Oversee program operations, curriculum design, and curriculum innovation for about 500 Chinese language learners per academic year

• Conduct student needs analyses and faculty surveys to inform strategic planning

Coordinated 1st Year Chinese (Fall 2016-Spring 2019), which involves

• Training part-time Chinese instructors in program teaching approaches and navigating Blackboard course platform

• Meeting with 1st year instructors to discuss pedagogy, develop teaching materials and assessments

• Developing grading rubrics for projects and exams for all sections of LC111 and LC112

• Leading regular lesson planning meetings

• Sharing and revising teaching materials (lesson plans, quizzes, etc.) on public folders

• Preparing master syllabi for multi-section courses LC111 and LC112

• Observing part-time teachers’ classes and providing consultative feedback

• Sharing flipped-learning materials (videos and video notes) with LC111 teachers

• Provided comprehensive training to all BLCU tutors by developing the tutor guideline, leading the online orientation, facilitating asynchronous discussions, and offering individualized feedback on their weekly reflections.

• Coordinated with Chinese language colleagues and participating students to ensure the smooth implementation and ongoing support of the tutoring program. Designed, implemented, and analyzed student feedback to inform continuous refinement of the tutoring program.

• Launched the Chinese Student Leadership Program, connecting Chinese minors and majors with native speakers and a community advisor to plan and co-host Chinese language tables.

• Drafted the lyrics and produced the Chinese Program Song and promotional video.

• Collaborated with colleagues on Open Chinese Class to attract new Chinese students.

• Collaborated with colleagues on the development of the Chinese program newsletter to promote Chinese courses and events.

• Outreached with Tianjin Technology University (TTU) and sustained a four-year collaboration on virtual exchange projects (since Fall 2020), involving over 600 BU student participants from all language proficiency levels and TTU native speakers from diverse cities and ethnic groups across China.
